ABOUT AOA
In August 2002, Cathy Fox and Gary Worth visited Kenya as members of a mission team from Denver, Colorado. They spent time in one of the slum neighborhoods outside Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. The sights of the children they saw saddened them. Children living on their own. Children with little to eat. Children without the ability to attend school. Children taking care of children. They learned that these children were orphans, the unspoken victims of the AIDS epidemic.
There are approximately 14 million orphans in Africa.
Upon returning home, Cathy and Gary vowed to do what they could to help provide homes for these children. In 2003 they formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit Colorado corporation named Africans Orphaned by AIDS (AOA) as a humanitarian relief organization to raise money to build homes for the orphans of Africa.
